Documentary Style Wedding Photographers in Los Angeles

Brett and I compliment each other in the best way possible - personality and work strength. We started working together as wedding photographers in California; Brett had his own successful wedding photography business (which has been merged into my business now) while I was pretty busy in Los Angeles with my own business. Separately, we had also worked for newspapers and The Associated Press before becoming wedding photographers. I studied Journalism in college while Brett majored in Film and Photography.

We want to tell, not dictate, your beautiful and unique wedding (and family) story. As wedding photojournalists, we strongly believe wedding (family) photos should reflect you and the authenticity of the event, and the absolute best way to enjoy the most special day is looking at photos of real moments and emotions.

Our knowledge and experience as wedding documentary photographers allow us to make the best judgment and create timeless photos you and your future generations will re-live. We’d always love to get to know you, meet you in person and/or video chat.

The more we know about each other and trust one another, the better photos we’ll make together.

Brett was the Photographer of the Year in the WORLD in 2017 by WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) while I was the runner-up Photographer of the Year in 2019 and I am currently No. 3 in the world! :-)

And we’ve been engaged. <3 We have two offices in Los Angeles and Carlsbad, California.

about annie

“Annie loves people and they always love her back. Her happy energy is contagious and harnessed into her hard-working vibe. Her portfolio reflects her journalism background and her approach to photography, which is a refreshing take on family, love, laughter and tears. Instead of asking her clients to follow orders, she bends to tell their stories, family relationships and touching moments. Time and time again, she manages to do all of this while also having fun and making long-lasting friendships.”

about brett

“Brett is such an artist. He is a genius when it comes to making beautiful, eye-popping and artsy photos. It’s something I naturally don’t have but he does. He can turn any situation into artwork, and his clients crave and respect his artistic directions very much. I really admire him for his attention to details, and he’s the most loving and funniest person I’ve ever met and is the best thing that has ever happened to me.” Check out his work here.

OUR ASSOCIATES

CINEMATOGRAPHER - AILIN

“It took many years of searching for a talented cinematographer who can focus on storytelling at weddings, and finally, the stars were aligned to meet this wonderful filmmaker in Los Angeles - Ailin. She’s simply a beautiful, smart, passionate, artistic, and kindhearted (the list goes on and on) soul, and has joined us in January 2023 to film weddings. She’s also an architect, and she creates something truly magical where art, architecture, and writing come together. I call her wedding work as “wedding movies” - because it is truly like watching a movie of your own wedding! And in her own words, she “sees weddings as an opportunity to create a short film - a unique and captivating work of art that tells the story of the day in beautiful and authentic ways.” Ailin has the perfect eye for creating a magical movie, filled with breathtaking visions, sounds and emotions of your wedding day, into minutes that will be cherished for generations to come.” -Annie-

Ailin LOVES to travel and makes sure she always has traveling plans in her calendar. She gets her inspirations from different culture, literature and people. She’s also an architect. She loves to be active; loves sports, hiking and long walks. She writes letters to people and mail them occasionally. She is a horse rider; when she’s not working, she spends time with horses. She is a huge animal and nature lover. She likes to eat Indian and Japanese food and she can’t live without coffee. <3

PHOTOGRAPHER - VICTORIA

Victoria is our specialist in elopement and engagement photography who loves to capture the couple’s stories in their most authentic, organic and beautiful nature. It may surprise some people, but her career journey started with a degree in law, before transitioning into image consulting and fashion styling, and eventually landed on her true passion - photography. With her fashion photography background, she will guide you through natural, fun and comfortable poses, yet create timeless moment-driven photos.

“It was the love at first sight with Victoria. She has this bubbly smile that makes you want to smile. Victoria brings lots of joyful energy to everywhere she goes; life becomes such a wonderful thing when you’re with her. She’s a good listener and loves to make our couples feel amazing in front of her camera. She is very passionate about her craft and also pays attention to little details and subtle hand gestures and body languages. What I like her the most is she always wants to create a relaxed atmosphere for our couples so they simply can be present and enjoy every moment.” - Annie

Victoria is tea-obsessed! She drinks 8-10 cups of tea a day. She also likes to explore new outdoor places and loves to indulge pizza “even” at the fanciest restaurants. Morning workouts are her daily ritual, and she dreams about traveling to Iceland, Scotland or Italy with couples and photographing their weddings.

Photographer / documentary cinematographer - michael

“Oh gosh, where should I start with this guy…
Other than Brett, Michael has worked for and with me the longest. He’s a tall man but somehow he makes his presence to almost non-existence at weddings; he’s quiet and very observant. He is super passionate about photojournalism and storytelling of people and life events that he can be stubborn about his craft; he obeys by photojournalism ethics which I respect. He loves photography’s ability to capture fleeting and unscripted moments - “those small, raw and real instances that often go unnoticed but have full of meanings.” Ailin and Michael have been dating for a while now, and it’s safe to say he is Ailin’s go-to assistant cinematographer. Michael is well-trained and very knowledgable both in film and photography."   - Annie

Michael was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and grew up in Israel. He later served in the IDF as a military photographer, and studied in Art and Photography; his early education focused on photojournalism heavily, which set a solid foundation for his documentary approach to wedding photography. He spent years traveling and working on various photography assignments around the world, and he eventually settled in Los Angeles, transitioning from commercial work into wedding photography. Michael appreciates human connection, diverse cultural experiences, and the beauty of everyday life. He loves to ride motorcycles, and Persian food is his favorite; especially kebab and saffron rice.

PHOTOGRAPHER - LOREN

Loren is a wedding photojournalist who appreciates the beauty of human connection and the importance of family. She has been specialized in family photojournalism, especially photographing births and newborns. She is a mom of three and is happily married to her husband for almost 20 years. She thrives on working with people who embrace their own stories, capturing the natural flow of events, emotions and interactions as they unfold. It’s been her goal to preserve the beautiful memories of their day - whether is a wedding, a birth, or a day in the life - in a way that feels true to their experience.

“When I first met Loren, the first feelings I felt from her was calm and patience, and she definitely brings that into her photography. She radiates that soothing energy - even in frantic and chaotic situations we sometimes find ourselves in weddings. She’s an amazing observant, and has a keen eye for capturing authentic and candid moments. Her images are imbued with a sense of intimacy and emotion, transporting the viewer into the heart of the moment. - Annie

Loren’s favorite food is Mexican cuisine while she is a 100% Portuguese by blood. Though she’s not as connected to the culture as she’d like to be, as the second generation in the US, she’s proud of her heritage. She loves sports, particularly volleyball, swimming, and tennis. She says she’s getting to be a big fan of Pickleball, too.
