Jordan + Corey - Casa Hyder Wedding in San Miguel de Allende Wedding

Read my San Miguel de Allende Wedding Photography story and one of my favorite photojournalistic experiences! Not to discredit my former client friends’ weddings, but this was simply one of the BEST weddings Brett and I have ever photographed. Jordan and Corey are now our dearest and best friends forever - I cried saying goodbye to them after the wedding, which kind of…never happens. We’re so blessed to be part of every journey - from their engagement to the courthouse ceremony - to the wedding (and beyond), and not only we’re already planning to see each other (they live in Texas, and we’re trying to convince them to move to San Diego! I mean, WHY NOT!), but we also wish to see their loved ones soon again.

Jordan and Corey got married at Casa Hyder in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They generously invited us to stay with them and their family at Casa Hyder. So we hung out with everyone at their San Miguel wedding for 5 days!

My Beloved Casa Hyder Wedding Photoshoot!

Their gay wedding in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, was planned by the best of the best, Penzi Weddings. Their wedding date was originally in May 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic had them rescheduled to November 2020, and about 50 people gathered to celebrate and share love. And to be honest, I couldn’t be happier and felt safer in Mexico than in California, as Mexicans were way more cautious and followed rules of caring for others and wearing masks, etc.

Below, here are some of my favorite moments.

The York Manor in Highland Park Wedding - Ashley and Matt

Happy belated anniversary, Ashley and Matt! <3

Honestly though, I don’t want to write anything for their wedding - ONLY because their photos came out as raw as a wedding day could get, representing exactly who they are and how many awesome people they’re surrounded by. Ashley and Matt met in 2011 while working at Apple store of Galleria, and the way Matt proposed to Ashley is beyond amazing. I literally screamed! They dance (or used to?) with a wild group of go-go dancers, called Random Acts of Irreverent Dance (aka RAID) and basically at midnight of Sept. 24, 2016, he threw a mashup show surprise proposal to Ashley in front of friends and many many screaming fans. I hope they don’t mind sharing the clip here.

Matt is super talented working in film industry (also as an actor) and is only child while Ashley is the laidback yet more organized brain (than Matt, I think?) working as an account manager and has an emotional relationship with her mom. Her man of honor was also Matt (this gotta be her favorite name!), and it was my first time witnessing the man of honor helping the bride with her wedding dress. They had a Kogi taco truck for dinner then ice cream sandwich for dessert; it was so fun! We walked around the block and inside of the venue at The York Manor in Highland Park to make a few portraits with my amazing help Brett. Their day I remembered and witnessed was complete with so many moments of euphoria and celebration of their amazing love.

Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook Wedding Photoshoot in Culver City, California - Esther + Dave

It was Esther and Dave’s 1st anniversary a few days ago, and yes, I’m super late with this blogging thing, but look at their autumn wedding from last year! They had a Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook wedding, where many Angelenos hike daily and enjoy panoramic views of Los Angeles. Esther is an architect (and a friend of my beloved former-client-turned-best-friend Candace; see my California wedding photographer stories of her engagement and wedding with Sean), and the industrial textures and architectural lines and symmetries were important to her (and Dave…? hehe) so we did some wedding photoshoot portraits around the venue. Ah, also, Esther’s grandfather just turned 101 years old this year. It’s simply so incredible to celebrate life and share it with your loved ones. My heart is full
